Abstract: | Se obtuvieron extractos de hojas y tallos de salvia (Salvia officinalis, Fam. Labiatae) y romero (Rosmarinus officinalis, Fam. Extracts were obtained from leaves and stems of sage (Salvia officinalis, Fam. Labiatae) and rosemary ( Rosmarinus officinalis, Fam. Labiatae ) and from guava leaves ( Psidium guajava Fam. Myrtaceae ), using co 2 in a supercritical state. Polynomial models were obtained to relate the yield of extracts with the conditions of their obtaining. The composition of the volatile fraction of the extracts was determined by Gc-MS. The antioxidant capacity (oRAc) of the extracts and the degree of protection they offer when added to a cosmetic base subjected to lipid oxidation by the action of UV radiation were measured. Rosemary extract showed the highest percentage of inhibition of lipid oxidation (88%), followed by sage extract (76%) and guava leaves (43%). Rosemary and sage extracts exhibited a high antioxidant capacity (1.9 μmol Trolox®/mg), similar to that of BHT and vitamin E (2.8 and 3.0 μmol Trolox®/mg), higher than that of guava leaf extract (0.7 μmol Trolox®/mg). |
