UNA ESPECIE NUEVA DE HUILAEA WURDACK (MELASTOMATACEAE) DE COLOMBIA

Abstract

Se describe e ilustra una nueva especie de Huilaea Wurdack (Melastomataceae). La misma secaracteriza por presentar el mayor número de flores por inflorescencia dentro del género, y por suspétalos blanquecinos. Proviene de la zona del nudo de Santurbán, cuenca alta del río Zulia, donde laCordillera Oriental (Colombia) se bifurca para conformar la Serranía del Perijá y la cordillera deMérida. A new species of the genus Huilaea Wurdack from Colombia is described and illustrated. It ischaracterized by the largest number of flowers per inflorescence, in the genus, and by its whitishpetals. The species is from the “nudo de Santurbán”, high part of the Zulia river watershed, wherethe cordillera oriental (Colombia) bifurcates into the Serrania del Perija and the Cordillera de Méridabetween 2300 and 2800 m of altitude.
