Abstract: | The sporulation characteristics of the mycelial phase of 32 strains of P. brasiliensis was investigated. On yeast extract medium 23 of the strains produced arthrospores, arthroaleuries and aleuries. Sporulation was related to the culture media and to the age of the strain. Yeast extract medium proved superior to Sabouraud's agar; primary isolates and recent stock strains produced spores in varying numbers. The microscopical appearance of the sporulating structures is described. Se investigo la capacidad de esporulacion de la fase miceliar de 32 cepas de P. brasiliensis. Utilizando el medio de extracto de levadura se obtuvo esporulacion en 23 de tales cepas. Los esporos son de varios tipos, a saber, artrosporos, artro-aleurias y aleurias. La esporulacion parece estar relacionada con el medio de cultivo y con la edad de la cepa. El extracto de levadura fue superior al Sabouraud en la estimulacion de la esporulacion; igualmente se observo que casi todos los cultivos primarios y muchos de los cultivos de coleccion de fecha reciente, producian esporos. El aspecto microscopico de los esporos es descrito detalladamente en el texto. |
